Marlaina & Kristopher were such a fun couple to work with. Not only do they have a truly beautiful love story, they are Karaoke gods. True Story.
Kristopher decided to pop the question when him and Marlaina were out on a Karaoke date. They headed to the same bar they met at (Miss Darla’s Bar). While singing a duet, he ever so smoothly added lyrics and asked her to marry him. Of course, Marlaina gave a huge YES!
I was first able to work with them at their engagement session in Old Sacramento. As a wedding photographer in Sacramento, this is one of the most popular requests I get for a city like location. We made sure to include their love of singing into the engagement session with some fun detail shots and including a microphone in a few images.
Flash forward to the wedding day, they had a very beautiful wedding at the Sequoia Mansion in Placerville, about an hour outside of Sacramento. The sun was hiding behind the clouds, and it rained here and there but the couple was glowing with excitement. They venue was decorated with gorgeous pops of color, including shades of red.
The florals at the venue were carefully selected and crafted by the lovely Dottie at the Camino Flower Shop, to not only compliment the colors of the wedding, but the venue itself.
After all of the detail and getting ready shots it was time to walk down the aisle. Marlaina recalled,” most memorable part of my day was seeing my husband for the first time walking down the aisle” she continued “Locking eyes with my husband and feeling the love between us. Seeing his smile. This moment was perfect. [It was] One of the best moments of my life. My nervousness went away and my stress about the rain disappeared. [It was] just a perfect moment”.
After the ceremony we headed outside for some pictures. Since it began to rain we took out our clear umbrellas for some super cute outdoor pictures. Who says rain will stop us?
The rest of the night was beyond perfect. The guests amplified the excitement of the reception with their high energy and willingness to celebrate the love of Marlaina & Kristopher.
Marlaina’s advice to future brides is “ take time to enjoy your special day. It's over in the blink of an eye. As hard as it is, don't sweat the small stuff on your special day. In the end it's all out you and your husband.”
We are so happy that they were drew to us by our “past wedding photos” and they felt that we “were very responsive and seemed to really care about us, and getting to know us as a couple”. We wish you both nothing but a lifetime of love and happiness.
